After growing up a poor Irish immigrant and fighting for the South in the Civil War, William Kehoe built a mansion in 1892 for his wife and 10 children. A number that does not include the many potential heirs lost to birthing complications or disease.
The home is now a bed and breakfast with guests who are regularly visited by apparitions of the Kehoe family including children who can be heard laughing on the 2nd floor-perhaps the lost souls of the Kehoe twins who died while playing in the chimney.
Their mother, Annie, had the chimney blocked and decorated with angels. Ever the loving mother, her spirit still visits guests to kiss them goodnight.
