Myrtles Plantation St. Francisville, Louisiana is one of the entries in 5 Most Haunted Places in America.

Entry Description[]

Myrtles Plantation was built in 1796 by David Bradford who sought refuge in Louisiana after his infamous involvement in the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion.

The home is said to be haunted by those who experienced great suffering there, the most famous being a slave named Chloe.

She was caught spying on her master, and he cut off her ear as punishment. Seeking redemption, Chloe baked a poisoned cake for her owners for which she planned to provide a cure. The plan backfired, killing the master's wife and daughter. Chloe was then hanged and thrown into the river.

Also haunting the home is the soul of William Drew Winter who was shot on the front porch before staggering up the stairs in a trail of blood.

He collapsed dead on the 17th step - a dying footstep that still echoes across time.
